The Holiday Season is creeping up on us again.  The Dallas Indie Experience began in 2007 as many shows supporting the local arts, economy, and community began to form and decided to work together during the holidays to give people a break from the big box retail hype.  This is an alternative weekend with events, shopping experiences, and unique locations for all.  Bring the kids, find a date, grab the girls, however you prefer…just come out and support local!  You won’t want to miss any of these events, they all have a different vibe and celebrate something new each day and then again that night!

This year the festivities will begin on 1st Thursday in the Bishop Arts District, where all the stores stay open late, host live music and even a few free cocktails if you know where to go.  Then on Friday, the Bishop Arts District will begin the 13th annual Jingle Bells on Bishop – A Cowboy Christmas, where many of the independent retailers will have their open houses for the holidays, special sales and menus.  Be sure to buy your raffle tickets for a chance to win $1000.00 in Bishop Arts Bucks to spend at participating retailers this holiday season. Then drop by Stand by Your Man – A tribute to Bonnie and Clyde, where the art and product of Joey Seeman and Tara to the T will be on display with complimentary cocktails and lite fare.

On Saturday start your day off with the Urban Street Bazaar where 50 local designers, modern crafters and artists will host an alternative shopping experience.  Enjoy Live Music, Entertainers and at local retailers in the quaint setting of the Bishop Arts District. Enjoy a silent auction where each vendor donates one item, benefiting the Oak Cliff Transit Authority, bringing the Trolley back to Oak Cliff.  At 6pm, the 13th Annual Jingle Bells will continue with hay rides, entertainment, pictures with Santa, local restaurants and retailers will open their doors with specials until 10pm.  At 6pm Art Conspiracy 4 will begin with art from over 150 local artists up for auction, 3011 Gulden Lane, Dallas, TX 75212, benefiting Preservation LINK, Inc, just $10 at the door!

On Sunday, have brunch at any local dinner or establishment and then head over to Deck The Halls at South Side on Lamar.  This is the 2nd annual show hosting 45 local businesses, modern crafters, designers and vendors of all sorts.  Enjoy things for the kids, pictures with Santa, a 50/50 cash raffle benefiting a local charity and your pocketbook!

Wow!  What an experience Dallas has to offer….be sure to join us at each event and remember to Think Global. Shop Local. Be Independent.
